We are Proud to Announce the Grand Opening of the City of Crane’s New Recycling Center Crane, MO

The City of Crane is pleased to announce the Grand Opening of our new Recycling Center, which is located in the Crane Industrial Park, on October 1, 2011.  “The City feels this new location will make it easier for its citizens to participate in our recycling program. We are excited about the Grand Opening and the activities we have scheduled for it,” stated Crane Mayor Collin Brannan.  Funding for the project was made possible by a 100% grant from Solid Waste Management District N and Missouri Department of Revenue.  This facility will provide for collection and sorting of recyclables, and is staffed by knowledgeable, experienced Recycling Center operator Truman Stevens.

 

Plans for the Grand Opening will include

·         Free coloring books and pencils made of recycled blue jeans furnished by Allied Waste

·         Recycling of electronics at the listed costs:

·         TV’s $20

·         Monitors (CRT) $20

·         Microwaves $10.00

·         Fluorescent Bulbs $1.00 each

·         Prescription drug drop-off by Stone County Health Department

·         Fire extinguisher refilling and recycling

·         Free Vehicle Battery Recycling

·         Free Electronics Recycling (i.e., computers {hard drive is removed and shredded}, printers, dvd players, lcd monitors, keyboards, mice, speakers, scanners, laptops, copiers, fax machines, typewriters, stereos, telephones, vcr’s, adaptors, satellite receivers and dishes, remote controls, hubs, switches, and routers) 

·         Cell Phone Recycling thru Cell Phones for Soldiers

·         Other items will be listed on the City website:  crane-mo.com

The new Crane Recycling Center will be open each Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon. It is located in the Crane Industrial Park off D Highway at the south edge of the City at 115 Industrial Drive.   The recycling center is a single stream operation which means you do not have to separate your recyclable products. Please see the list below which tells you which items are currently accepted at the Recycling Center.**   You will also find a separate container which is used for aluminum cans if you would like to donate your aluminum cans towards for the purchase of City Park playground equipment.

**Items Accepted**

  • Plastics No. 1-7: Milk, juice, soda, margarine, pill bottles, detergent, 5 gallon buckets

  • Paper:  Office paper, magazines newsprint, paperback books, phone books

  • OCC:  Cardboard, cereal boxes, rice boxes, chip board, brown paper bags
 
   

CRANE FALL CITY-WIDE GARAGE SALE AND CLEAN UP

   The Fall Crane City-Wide Garage Sale will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011 in conjunction with the new Recycling Center Grand Opening at the Crane Industrial Park.   Please contact City Hall in person by September 28 to have your garage sale location noted on the map.  Maps will be available at City Hall and Circle K, Rapid Roberts, and Crane One Stop Convenience Stores on Friday, September 30.  (Be sure to take all garage sale signs down by October 3.)

   The City-Wide Clean Up will be held on October 3, 2011.  No tires, lead/acid batteries, yard waste, dead animals, wet paint containers, waste oil, raw sewage, flammable substances, chemicals, computers, TV’s (portable or console), fiberglass items, hazardous materials, or large quantities of ash will be accepted.  Appliances, including freezers, refrigerators, and air conditioners that are tagged by a licensed technician certifying that Freon is removed, will be picked up (one per residence) on October 3.  Please contact City Hall by September 28 if you have an appliance for the Allied Waste Service “pick-up” list.

 
 
   
   

The City of Crane along with the Hammons School of Architecture and the Center for Community Studies, and the Crane Visioning Committee has completed the first phase of Crane's Visioning project. This project will enhance and add to our Comprehensive Plan for the City's growth. You can view the pdf version of this document by clicking here.

 The City of Crane has compiled its 2010 Water Quality Report for the Crane Water System.   The City strives to provide the purest and safest water to the citizens of Crane.  This report will show the content of the water and the results of all tests run on the Crane water system.
